Ain't No Rest...

The reason for the title is I guess a few nights ago Elder Hulet woke up to me teaching him in my sleep. Who would've thought that would've been a thing? It's also been raining a ton! I wish that it could do the same to my home in Utah, then the grass would actually be a healthy green!

Anyway this week has been amazing. During the weekly Tuesday Splits with Elder Campbell, we went and visited a family that we had first visited the second night I arrived in Houston. We met with them the first time to help them understand the Book of Mormon better. We come back a month later and find out that the Husband received the Melchizedek Priesthood, blessed his baby, and they're going to be sealed in the Temple! I was so excited and happy for them that I almost cried. The joy of Eternal Families is something that I look forward to seeing everywhere I go.

Later in this week, Elder Hulet and I were going to teach an investigating family and were going to teach an FHE lesson. We were struggling what to do and were short on time, but after praying we were able put a plan together the best we could and the spirit was so strong in that home. The whole family could feel it and it has so far been one of the greatest experiences so far. Can't wait to see more!

Just want to leave y'all with my testimony that Heavenly Father loves us. He loved us so much that His son came down and sacrificed Himself so that we can return to live with Him and our families again and that is something that I know to be true. I love y'all and want to leave a challenge to serve someone this next week. Y'all have time for someone so don't be making excuse.

So something I forgot to mention in the group email is that Elder Hulet and I have received a Singles Ward. The AP's used to have it but they were so busy no work was getting done, so they gave it to use and our area expanded about three times the size it originally was. It's crazy and we get to work on the Lone Star College campus.

Survival of the Fittest

So last P-day we ended up at a playground that was insane and did companion races. Not to brag, but I'm pretty quick haha, actually beat several Elders. It was kinda a throw back to a Get Air obstacle course with all my friends, crazy times.

Anyway we tried to save miles this week because one of the days we went tracting but walked around the corner and across one of the busiest streets to an apartment complex. Came in handy since Elder Campbell and his companion ran low on gas and needed a ride to places the next day. Also nice to get a good walk in, though I'd rather only do those at night, especially since it's getting hotter.

Same time while we were tracting, we we're about to come back and there was a guy on his balcony just enjoying the night. Elder Hulet asked if he wanted a picture of Christ and when he invited us up to give him one we got to teach him and his family a little bit. we will be returning this next weekend to do a Family Home Evening with them and in the process teach about the Restoration.

Thursday was awesome. So there is a church operated Peanut Butter Factory down here and they have companies come and work for service. We got to go down with another companionship and while we were on our way we got chick-fil-a for lunch. The factory was awesome and we were going to return Friday and do it with Hindu's but the morning of, there was a group that spilled peanuts everywhere and it contaminated everything so we didn't get to.. would've been cool though.

We also went to an old folks home and got to hang out with the Elderly women for Valentine's day. It was a ton of fun and definitely made my day better by hanging out with them and getting to know them.

Today was one of the sisters last P-days so our district got together and had a slight picnic and it was way fun. A bunch of the Elders did easy going wrestling matches and when I did I put up a fight, but lost to Elder Hulet.

Well that's it for this weekly email, but I truly know that the Holy Ghost helps us talk about the gospel with others. We went and taught a family that was a little interested and though I had no idea what to say but when I started talking I was guided with what to say. I love y'all, this church is true, and the Book is blue. See y'all next week!

Food, glorious food!

Holy wow do we get fed here! So to start off, Monday was my comps B-day. We went to the mall and he bought a really nice and expensive pair of shoes and then we had breakfast for dinner at a members home and cheesecake at another home, pretty great day!

Another thing was that on Wednesday we got a lot of food! We went back to the Spring Creek BBQ and then after that went and had a second lunch at a members house. The food at both places was amazing but my stomach was gonna explode! Worth it though.

We also had a zone conference where I ran into Elder Jacob, who I grew up with in elementary and it was great to see a familiar face out here. Zone conference went for awhile and I don't know why but I was falling asleep! Waking up is brutal haha.

We also did tons of service during exchanges. We moved a couch into an apartment, then some boxes out of another, and then we moved a mattress and it was crazy haha!

So our investigator is still coming to Church and reading the BOM. Last time we visited him HE taught US the Restoration! How sick would that be?!

Anyway we gotta go and get what we can done, but I just want to add to what I posted on Facebook and just let you all know that I've just started to understand the value of the Book of Mormon, and that I hope all of you can come to know the same. I love y'all and wish y'all good luck with Singles Awarness (Valentines) Day!

For part of our P Day we went to a playground.  It was like a giant obstacle coarse, so we had races.

We've been working on outlines for the lessons and when we do, we review and mark Preach My Gospel and it's amazing the truths that are in it. This picture talks about the atonement I believe and it is amazing, it's so rich when it talks about Christ and what he did and how we can return to live with him. The main thing coming from this is that we can't simply believe, we HAVE TO act on our faith as it says in Ether 12:6
"...ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith."
This gospel is true, the Book of Mormon is so extremely true and it truly testifies of families being together forever and also about how to return to live with them for eternity. I love you all and have a Happy Valentine's Day

Eggs and Chilli!!!

I don't know what it is but I LOVE eggs, I eat tons of them a day haha! I need new ideas for cheap easy food, please let me know haha! Also someone came up to me in church and asked if I was related to Kenny Rogers. Let the jokes begin haha!

Anyhow so this week started off and it scared me! We had to do an exchange and it was me and Elder Campbell (My MTC comp) and we had to plan the say and everything. I'm still getting the works on how to schedule and everything so yeah. We did happen to find an investigator though and the people we had dinner with was the Guthrie's who are about to go on a mission to Palmyra I believe.

We met with two of our investigators who are atheists Wednesday and discussed with them about the Book of Mormon and church. They have a different understanding of reading but we were able to kinda clear it up for them.

We also started using technology more which is kinda interesting. We explored a lot of options and ideas to use Facebook and then started using a church app to plan out our day and all. Technology is getting nice however I still prefer paper haha!

Another thing we got to do was be a Chilli judge at a contest. There was four of us. One of the guys had a Rolex which was way nice and the other looked like Indiana Jones's dad went to a gym for 5 years, guy was huge!! Sad thing was the chilli was debatable, could've been better haha.

Anyway I want to leave all y'all with my testimony on family. Since being out on my mission I have never felt more love for my family, and not even just my immediate family, but also the extended family. I do love my friends too and most are close enough to be considered family and I'm glad everyone will be with me for eternity and not just this life. I love ya all and will email next week!
