Humble and Kind

This week has been insane! To start off, our Zone tries to find about 30+ a transfer and we have currently found 35 in these last two weeks! Definitely seeing miracles, thank you all for your prayers.

To start off with a few things this week. A few nights ago Elder Hulet and I were trying to go to bed and all of a sudden we start to hear something in which I thought it was some kids crying or something but it turned out to be two cats about to have a showdown, but not doing anything. We tried yelling at them through the window but eventually had to go down and scare them off. Sleep was a little rough then but the next day all was good!

Sunday was pretty great, to start off we had a grocery bag hook to the bottom of the car and we thought that it was going to just blow off eventually. Now it is currently melted to the bottom of the car and we're trying not to suffocate on plastic fumes haha. Anyway, we got to attend a training meeting on how the whole Ministering thing will work and I'm excited.

The two spiritual things is that we had another baptism with a guy named Omar. He's actually Egyptian which is pretty cool. The font was still cold but we had a really good turn out and there was a lot of people who were supporting him.

Later we went to a member dinner and got to hear a lot of the mission stories from the father of the home. After sharing the message that we had he said that they would be willing to work with us on their friends and sharing the gospel with them.

I just want to share with you that there is a great spirit that comes when you have members and missionaries work together in accomplishing this work. I've seen it happen to people in my short amount of time and I'm excited to see what else it will do. My invitation is for you to take some time to read from the Book of Mormon and SHARE what you read with others and have a conversation off of it, you will feel the Lord when you do so. I love y'all and will talk to y'all next week!

ONE BIG HAPPY FAM

Sooooooo crazy stuff from this week! To start off, we went on exchanges twice this week, two days in a row and it was LONG! Some awesome stuff happened though.

I went in a Trio to a different area and we went to the dinner appointment with the Adams Family. When we got there they said hi to the family and when the wife saw me this is what happened:

Her: "Rogers? I used to know a Ryan Rogers."

Me: *eyes squinted* "Wait... from where?"

Her: "Ogden."

Me: "A small place called Taylor?"

Her: "Yeah!"

Me: *HUGE EYES* "THAT'S MY DAD!"

Yeah then we talked a tooon about home and Burger Bar and both of my parents and the whole time I was MIND BLOWN!

Out of all the things this week, I've got one, but spiritual thing that happened. Our investigator Alan was Baptized! And even better was two of our investigators were able to come, Ryan and Scott. After I was talking to Ryan and he told me that the first baptism he saw was at the Woodlands Church (nondenominational) and that for him it looked more commercialized and ours was more personal. I went and talked to Scott and he told me the DAY he wanted to get baptized! (We hadn't set a date with him)

Anyway sorry it's long. I love y'all, the church is definitely true and brings a joy that isn't found anywhere else. Keep reading the Book of Mormon and a challenge I have is to read ALL the accounts of Christ's Atonement and Crucifixion. Again love all y'all and see ya next week!

I almost forgot! Transfer calls were yesterday and Elder Hulet and I will be staying Companions! We're gonna get work done!

ALSO! We got to go Clean the Temple grounds and it was awesome! The temple is beautiful and I am so glad I got to go there.

The WORK and thThis thing is sweeeeet.e FLIPPIN GLORY!

How about General Conference though?! Oh my gosh there were so many changes and so much excitment haha! And the TEMPLES! WHAT?! Russia, India, and LAYTON, UTAH!! WOOHOO!! You should've seen me, I think I wrote that like 6 times in my journal haha!

Aside from all the changes I'd like to express my overwhelming joy for, I'll tell y'all some stuff about this week.

The funny story of the week is that we went tracting this week, which we've done a lot of, and knocked into a nice small family. While talking to one of the daughters, their dog ran out the door and took off down the street. The youngest daughter, Elder Hulet and I ran after it and ran for about a mile before the daughter finally caught it. We were trying to figure out how to get it back to the house since the dog was about 90 pounds, so Elder Hulet used his tie to walk it back home and now we have a potential family from it. The Lord works in mysterious ways.

The spiritual side of things is that we had a bigger commitment for one of our investigators who's Hispanic so we did splits with the AP's, where the Elder Hunt (speaks Spanish) and I went and taught him. Now having lead the discussion and extending a larger commitment, I am very grateful for the Lord's help in the whole thing.

To end I would love to extend the commitment from President Nelson and ask all of you, when the conference talks are available, to go back through and study them for the next 6 months. There were many things promised to us if we do that and the other things that he has asked us to do. We always sing "Follow the Prophet" and now it's time to walk the walk as I know I should've been doing long ago. Amos 3:7 states:

"Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the Prophets."

I have had the Holy Ghost confirm to me that President Russell M. Nelson is the Prophet of God. These changes have been made to better SERVE each other and to better LOVE each other. The last thing is his words, stating:

"These new temples that are being build will not change your life, but the time you spend in them will."

MAKE TIME TO GO TO THE TEMPLE! I love all y'all and I hope you made it this far haha. See y'all next week!

Ready. Set. REFERRAL!

This week was super long but awesome. To start off we found out we were moving from our old apartment to a different apartment (I'll send the address in a little, don't worry). The new apartment is way nice and has a lot of room. I'm not sure how long we'll be in it, but I don't mind it haha.

Anyway, the story behind the title is that we received a referral the other week. Our wards get together Saturday mornings and play two-hand touch football. There's been a few nonmembers that go so we thought we should go for the purpose of contacting. Long story short, I did alright at football and didn't get hurt AND we contacted the referral and will be setting up a lesson!

With General Conference coming up I want to challenge everyone to stay awake first of all and to listen to the talks that will be shared. Most of the crazy stuff I've learned out here has been from past talks and I know there is a lot of wisdom that comes from our leaders. I always think of the fact that they commit their lives to this and they wouldn't do it unless it was true. I love all y'all and thank you for your support in this work. Have a good week.

ROAD TRIP!

Sad thing about this email is it's the last time I get to use "the younger" in my name, it's crazy my brother will be homes soon!

Anyway this week was spring break so there was no college work,  however we got to go to Texas A&M and have a meeting with other college missionaries about ideas to talk to people, it was pretty fun. After we went to a gas station the size of a Wal-Mart that had dozens of gas pumps!

Wednesday (Happy B-day dad!) Was the 8 week mark for me and the other Elders. We had another meeting and got to learn what we could from the seasoned missionaries.

Sunday night we went tracting and we found three new people that were interested in the gospel! It was part of our plans to get three new and it actually happened which surprised me.

I just want y'all to know that I've seen this gospel bring joy to people and I know it can do the same for all y'all. Don't give up on God because he won't give up on you.
